Windows going the wrong way

So every now and again (more often then not to be honest) when I click either of the front window switches to close the window, they go down instead ?!

Anyone else had this?

Sounds like a switch fault.

Yeah it must be.

But its strange that it happens on both windows? I click it to close it, they go down (open) I have to wait un till they stop and then click to close it again. It’s starting to get to me!


Any idea of a fix?

I have the same sort of problem on my drivers side window where when it is nearly up and I press to go up it will start then go down like it would if something got jammed in there, if this makes sense lol.

Yeah mine does that exactly that, goes up a tad before going down, like you say - as if something was jamming it.

Mine did this for a while after I unlocked the car and held the button for the windows to open slightly. What I did was I unlocked the car and held the button so the windows went all the way down then locked the car holding the button until the windows were fully closed it might not work for you but costs nothing and it did the trick for me and I've had no issues since. On a side note this started after I fitted my wind deflectors if that makes a difference

I reset them from the door switch, individually. First down, then up. It just takes like a 2 seconds longer press at each end to do it.

You do these setting from the drivers door controls ! I had the same problem with my audi a3 doing this sorted it out

Mine does this but also stops in a funny place then won't respond straight away. Will try this reset later

Agreed ... mine are fixed when holding the switch until the glass goes all the way down and then repeat for travel all the way up. Usually happens when it has been in the shop for a service though...not just randomly on its own.

I remember when I got my first mk5 and this always used to happen. oddly enough, it happens more when its raining than when its not. It seems to be when I have a smoke when its raining and I'm not moving that some water gets somewhere and causes it to do this.

Brilliant advice, did mine earlier and now I have no bounce back on my drivers side. Much appreciated
